Fall semester 2013 Events
October 5, 2013 - Orientation for International students that would like to apply for OPT (optional practical training). This is a benefit to you as international student to work for up to 12 months provided you meet certain criterias. Please come and join us for this very important meeting.
October 25, 2013 - Fall worship for CIEP students at Chan Shun Building, Whirlpool room. It will begin at 6 pm with a meal. This event is eligible "co-cirricular credit". Please sign up your name by noon on Thursday (October 24, 2013)
November 22, 2013 - Several International students are going to participate in University vespers. Please come and support and enjoy this special program at 7 pm at Pioneer Memorial Church.
November 24, 2013 - The Office of International Student services will host a Thanksgiving Dinner for international students. This event will take place in the Chan Shun Lobby at 6 pm. You will need to RSVP by November 1, 2013 for this event and you will receive ticket or tickets (for family) to participate in this event. If you do not have a ticket, you will not be admitted for this particular event. You will learn of this American Tradition and the meaning of it at this event. Please look out for email notification regarding this very soon.
December 12, 2013 - This is the last day of Fall 2013 semester. If you are planning to travel outside of the United States for the Christmas break, you need to check in with us if your I-20 and other travel requirements are in place before you leave. Please do so in order to avoid any unforeseen unpleasant experience on your return to the US.
December 19, 2013 - The Office of International Student services will host a Christmas Dinner in the Cafeteria. You will receive additional information via email very soon. You are required to RSVP for this event by Dec 1, 2013. You will also need to have ticket or tickets (if you have family) to attend this event. Once again, if you do not have tickets or invitation, you will not be able to participate in this event. So, if you are not traveling and will plan to stay in the area, please join us. Stay tuned.
Spring semester 2014 Events
January 5, 2014 - We will be having an Orientation program for international students on January 5, 2014 from 9 am - noon. This program is planned for students that are beginning their studies for Spring semester. We want to strongly encourage you to make plans to arrive on Campus in time for this important program that would benefit and be informative to you.
February 7, 2014 - OPT Orientation workshop for International students that will be finishing their program of study in May 2014. This workshop will begin at 11:30 am in the Leadership room in the Campus Center building.
** ATTENTION **
If you are planning to leave the US for either the Thanksgiving break (November 27- December 1, 2013) and Christmas break (December 13,2013 - January 5, 2014), please make sure that the signature on the 3rd page of your I-20 (for F1 and F2 visa holders) and the 1st page of your DS 2019 (For J1 and J2's) is valid for at least 6 months into the future from the date it was last signed.
Please check to make sure that your I-20 document on line number 5 is a future date. If it is about to expire, please make an appointment to meet with us at least 2 weeks from the expiration date so we can provide you information for extension of your I-20. The same goes for J1 and J2 visa holders, please check that your DS 2019 is not expired.
