Fall semester 2014 Events
October 5, 2014 - Orientation for International students that would like to apply for OPT (optional practical training). This is a benefit to you as international student to work for up to 12 months provided you meet certain criterias. Please come and join us for this very important meeting.
November 23, 2014 - The Office of International Student services will host a Thanksgiving Dinner for international students. This event will take place in the Chan Shun Lobby at 6 pm. You will receive an email announcement about it, please stay tuned! You will need to RSVP by November 5, 2014 for this event and you will receive ticket or tickets (for family) to participate in this event. If you do not have a ticket, you will not be admitted for this particular event. You will learn of this American Tradition and the meaning of it at this event. Please look out for email notification regarding this very soon.
December 11, 2014 - This is the last day of classes for Fall 2014 Semester. If you are planning to travel to outside of the US, please see us before you leave with your I-20 as we may have to sign it prior to your departure. This is extremely important step for you to do before you leave for home.
December 21, 2014 - The Office of International Student services will be hosting a Christmas Dinner. You will receive an email announcement about this. You will need to RSVP by December 3, 2014. Please stay tuned! You will also need to have ticket or tickets(if you have family) to attend this event. Once again, if you do not have tickets or invitation, you will not be able to participate in this event.
Spring semester 2015 Events
January 4, 2015 - We will be having an Orientation program for international students on January 4, 2015 from 9 am - noon. This program is planned for students that are beginning their studies for Spring semester. We want to strongly encourage you to make plans to arrive on Campus in time for this important program that would benefit and be informative to you.
February 6, 2015 - OPT Orientation workshop for International students that will be finishing their program of study in May 2015. This workshop will begin at 11:30 am in the Leadership room in the Campus Center building.
March 21, 2015 - This day is set aside as INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SABBATH worship at Pioneer Memorial Church. The worship service participants are international students. Please come and be blessed by this special worship service. Please be sure to come dressed in your traditional/cultural costumes to showcase your rich cultural background. Andrews University is ranked # 7 in the US for international diversity. You will be joined by many students and members in the community to show share this international diversity on our campus.
March 29, 2015 - This is the day of INTERNATIONAL FOOD FAIR. This event will showcase the international diversity with the variety of cuisine brought to us from around the world. This is a very popular annual event and it will be well attended with many clubs and organizations making available the variety of food for you to purchase and enjoy.
April 30, 2015 - This is the last day of classes for Spring 2015 semester. If you are traveling outside of the US, it would be best to check with the Office of International student services prior to departure to ensure that your I-20 is in good status for your return.
** ATTENTION **
If you are planning to leave the US for either the Thanksgiving break (November 26 - 30, 2014) and Christmas break (December 12, 2014 - January 4, 2015), please make sure that the signature on the 3rd page of your I-20 (for F1 and F2 visa holders) and the 1st page of your DS 2019 (For J1 and J2's) is valid for at least 6 months into the future from the date of your departure. If this information is unclear to you, please stop in at the Office of International Student services, Campus Center to assist you with explanation.
