Siegfried H. Horn Awards
About the Horn Awards
The Siegfried H. Horn Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Scholarship is presented in honor of the Siegfried H. Horn's legacy of scholarship and contribution to the field of Biblical Archaeology at Andrews University, and his impact upon the world church and the wider community of scholars, this award has been established to recognize lifetime scholarship achievement of Andrews University faculty members.
Distribution of Awards:
Up to four $1000 awards will be given each year; one recipient from each of the following four categories:
- Arts, Humanities and Education: The fine arts, the humanities, communication, and education.
- Pure and applied sciences: Agricultural science, the behavioral sciences, the natural sciences, mathematics, engineering, and computer science.
- Professional: Health professions, social work, business, architecture, and aviation.
- Religion and Theology: The seminary programs and religion.
Eligibility:
Recipients of the award must hold the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor, and have ben full-time employees at Andrews University for a minimum of 5 years. This is a lifetime achievement award; faculty may win the award only once.
Process:
Up to five eligible faculty will be nominated from each of the four categories by the Chair of the Scholarly Research Council, based upon Faculty Activity Report scores from preceding five years. The CVs for each nominee will be made available to the members of the Scholarly Research Council, and award recipients will be determined by secret ballot of the Scholarly Research Council.
Awards:
Awards will be announced at the annual Faculty/Board Banquet and Awards each year.
