Citation Appeals
If you have received a citation on campus that was issued by Campus Safety you can; within 10 days of it's issuance, take one of the following actions;
1.) Pay the full amount by credit card at Campus Safety or at Accounts Payable;or
2.) Have it charged to your Andrews University account; or
3.) File an on-line appeal.
If you take no action the citation will automatically be charged to your Andrews University account.
Andrews University Procedure to Appeal
Within 10 business days from the date you received your citation, submit your written appeal with the online Appeal Submission Form. An e-mail address is required to appeal online.
If you DO NOT have an e-mail address then you can submit a written appeal at the Andrews University Office of Campus Safety (located at 4355 International Court on Andrews University Property). All written appeals must also be submitted before the 10 day deadline.
Information that must be included in your letter of appeal:
Citation Number
Your Name
Your Andrews University ID Number (if you have/had one)
Your Address (The response letter will be sent to this address)
The Appeals Committee meets at least once per month. Your letter will be submitted for their review and consideration. Once your appeal has been reviewed and the committee has made their decision you will be notified in writing.
If you are not satisfied with the result of your appeal, you have the right to a Second Appeal. This appeal is in person.
Procedure to Make a Second Appeal
When you receive your first response letter from the Appeals Committee, you will be informed of any payment due date. If you want a Second Appeal, before the due date of your payment, you must contact the Office of Campus Safety at (269) 471-3321 between 8am and 5pm Monday through Thursday, and Friday 8am – noon, and notify them that you wish to make a Second Appeal. Your name and phone number will be taken and you will be called to arrange an appointment with the Appeals Committee.
Please note the decision of the Appeals Committee is the final authority on citations. The enforcement of speeding and parking policies are the enforcement of University Policy, not policies of Campus Safety.
*Appeals Committee is comprised of faculty, staff, and students. No Officers from the Office of Campus Safety votes on any appeal.
