Caryn Pierce, PT, MSPT joined our faculty in 2013 to serve as the Assistant Director of our postprofessional degree program and Behavioral Sciences Coordinator for our entry level DPT program.
Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Caryn obtained her B.S. in Anatomy and Physiology in 1994 and M.S. in Physical Therapy in 1995 from Andrews University. She has practiced physical therapy in a number of settings including inpatient rehab and home health care though her primary focus has been outpatient orthopedics and specifically manual therapy. For many years she served as inservice education coordinator and mentored new graduates in the clinical setting. Her professional certifications include Strain/Counterstrain from the Jones Institute, Structural Integration through Kinesis Myofascial Integration, and Manual Therapy from the University of St. Augustine. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, International Association of Structural Integrators, and Performing Arts Medicine Association. She is qualified to serve as a clinic mentor for the Jones Institute of Strain/Counterstrain and maintains a small independent PT practice.
Her research interests include basic science of fascia, biomechanics, manual therapy and prevention and treatment of performance-related pain in musicians.
Caryn is married to Lonnie Pierce. They have two dogs, Gracie and Gretta. Caryn enjoys vegetarian cooking and nutrition, classical violin and viola playing, hiking and mountaineering.
