Freelance Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in providing freelance services to Andrews University Press. We occasionally hire copyeditors, graphic artists, indexers, and line editors for specific projects. All freelancers must have experience in scholarly Christian publishing.
Copyeditors
Please download the Copyediting Test and edit the document using the Track Changes feature of Microsoft Word to show your edits. The comment function may be used to add queries. Style should comply with the Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary (11th ed.) and the Chicago Manual of Style (15th ed.). When you have completed the test, please send it as an attachment to aupress@andrews.edu along with a copy of your résumé. Please allow 3–4 weeks for our review. We can rarely provide detailed feedback on a test, but we will acknowledge your submission.
Graphic Artists
If you have experience designing book covers within scholarly publishing, please email your résumé to aupress@andrews.edu along with information regarding how you calculate costs (e.g., the price of an average cover, how many designs and sets of corrections are offered for that price, etc.). Please also send a link to a website where your work is displayed. If you wish to submit samples of your work in some other way, please first send a query via email.
Indexers
Most indexing tasks are the responsibility of our authors. If you would like to be added to an existing roster of indexers whom we sometimes recommend to our authors, please email your résumé, samples, and list of books to aupress@andrews.edu. Though we may not acknowledge receipt of your résumé, we will keep materials from worthy applicants on file. Our authors may contact you directly regarding their projects.
Line Editors
If you are a professional editor with experience working within our areas of emphasis, please send your résumé to aupress@andrews.edu and indicate your field(s) of specialty. For more detailed information regarding the expectations of a line editor, please see our Line Editing Guidelines. |
