PEOPLE WHO LOVE BENTON HARBOR began in May of 2001. We began because there was a dire need to revitalize the city of Benton Harbor. We were out ministering in our community and noticed that blig ht and decay were major problems in our city. We decided to deal with these issues that directly affect the people in our community. Jesus first showed the love of God by feeding the hungry,healing the sick and then he spoke the Word of God to the masses.

Since May of 2001 we have become more active in our community. We continue to physically clean on our adopted blocks of 800-1100 blocks of Pavone and Broadway Park. We have been responsible for three success ful citywide cleanups that enjoy the support from the community at large. We along with the city of Benton Harbor have implemented the ADOPT-A-BLOCK PROGRAM. Our first volunteers were from Calvin Britain Elmentary Sch ool.We are very excited about this initiative. We believe this initiative will go a long way in improving the physical condition of our neighborhoods and increasing civic responsibility for our children and residents alike.
Come join the family.....
We received a 10,000.00 grant from the Frederick S. Upton Foundation that was used to buy revitalization and recreational equipment. This was a tremendous blessing; it helped us to become
more efficient by having more lawnmowers, trimmers and various other tools to keep our neighobhood clean. We now have a vast array of recreational equipment for the children in our neighborhood to play with. We have soccer equipment, volleyball equipment,
basketball equipment, parachute, badminton and lots of other fantastic games for our children to use.
This is what is all about "working together"

We are working on our community house in the neighborhood of Pavone and Empire. We will use our community house as an example to the neighborhood. We will be a liaison between the reside nts and local agencies. We will continue to work closely with the Benton Harbor Police Department, Public Works, Inspection Department, local landlords and churches. We will have a wealth of information for the residents to use to help them become more kn owledgeable of their rights and responsibilities. We will work with reputable organizations to sponsor Alcoholics Anonymous and Drug Rehabilitation meetings in our local neighborhood. &nbs p; & nbsp;
