A cruise ship slightly smaller than ours (ours was
four levels high instead of three) passing through locks
by a dam north of Luxor (our ship all but scraped
the bottom of the bridge over the locks).

A "felucca" (Egyptian sail boat) moves past
our cruise ship on the upper Nile.

Exiting the locks.
The major feature of our stay in Egypt was a cruise along
the Nile River from Luxor to Aswan, the southernmost city
of Egypt.  Our ship was four levels high, with a roof deck
for sun bathing and swimming in a small pool.  The bottom
level included a large dining room (for about 150 people).
We stayed on the third level in a room about the size of
a Motel 6 chamber.  The cruise was free of all sea-sickness
as the river is quite calm.  Airconditioning was adequate, in
spite of 110-plus degree heat (45 C).

A familiar and amusing sight, hawkers seeking sales
among tourists, in this case calling up to potential
buyers at windows and the railings of the cruise ship
as it slowed down to enter the locks.

The Temple of Edfu, located on the west bank of the Nile, halfway between Luxor and Aswan.  It is the second
largest temple in Egypt and one of the most complete.
