Harvesting Ideas through Brainstorming

  1. Choose a recorder
  2. Set scope of ideas to be generated
  3. Rotate rapidly around the room randomly; allow those on a streak to continue or have each person hand in ideas anonymously on cards
  4. Record ideas on blackboard or flip charts
  5. Do not criticize or evaluate comments
  6. Encourage creative thought by complimenting all ideas including the wild and impractical
  7. Close the session, refine the list, eliminate duplications and evaluate the best ideas
  8. Prioritize the list
  9. Put a plan in place to activate ideas (who, how, what, when)
