Security Software

Security software is designed as it sounds, to make your computer system more secure. Several varieties of this software type are explained below:

  • Anti-virus - This type will detect, quarantine, and fix/delete any file infected with a virus on your computer. This software should be set to auto detect or be run every day, and also needs to be updated very frequently for maximum protection. Every computer should have this software on it.
  • Anti-spyware - This will detect, quarantine, and delete spyware affecting your computer. This should also be run on a daily basis and kept up to date for maximum effect.
  • Anti-adware - This will detect, quarantine, and delete adware programs found on the computer. This should also be run on a daily basis and kept up to date for maximum effect.
  • Firewall - This type of software is usually built into the OS of the computer and should be turned on at all times. This will try to detect incoming threats (including forced entries, hacking attempts, and any other uninvited guests) and stop them from entering the computer. This is usually a first defense against attacks.
