Experience

Associate Professor (August 2002 – to date)

Develop curriculum for the mechanical engineering program.

Set up Materials Testing, Fluid Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering Laboratories.

Conduct lectures and laboratories in the mechanical engineering program.

Setup contacts between the students and the local industries to do senior design projects.

Participates in search committees and other advisory committees within the university.

Research Assistant (Jan 1994 - 2002) Michigan State University

Examine the nature of grain to grain deformation transfer and to characterize the conditions which lead to slip transfer or crack initiation. Electron Channeling Contrast Imaging (ECCI), Selected Area Channeling Patterns (SACP) and Electron Backscattering Patterns (EBSP) techniques, performed using scanning electron microscopy, are used in this study.

Studies of dislocation generation and motion in thin foils as well as bulk single crystals NiAl alloys using transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Use ECCI technique to determine the mechanisms of toughening at crack tips by examining the nature of dislocation generation and motion in bulk 4-point bend samples.

Research work include sample preparation, mechanical testing and heat treatment processes.

Taught and graded undergraduates laboratory classes in materials and processes land X-Ray. Taught and graded a graduate class in electron microscopy laboratory class.

Maintenance of safety and cleanliness of dark room, chemical preparation, material testing and microscopy laboratories.

Summer Intern- Hydroforming Project

May 2001 - August 2001 General Motors Corporation

Carried out hydroforming operation on a 200 ton press machine. Chemically etched grid circles and/or bonded strain gauges onto welded steel tubes to measure the strain distribution at various locations on the tubes before and after hydroformed operations.

Operation Manager

MSU Student Food Bank (June 1999 to August 2000)

Ensure the smooth running of the Food bank. Purchase and/or collect food supplies from various food stores. Develop a systematic data collection for all the foodbank clients. Provide weekly as well as quarterly reports on the operation of the foodbank.
