Nutritional Assessment and Counseling

Sound Weight Loss programs incorporate personalized before, during, and after assessments, and include nutritional educational information to encourage participants to improve their healthy food choices. The "10 in 10" Weight Loss and Weight Maintenance Program offers state of the art nutritional and fitness assessments and counseling, as well as cooking classes, fitness training, and one to mentorship support.

Cooking Classes

The "10 in 10" Weight Loss and Weight Maintenance Program offers weekly cooking classes taught by Tricia Riccio, who is a AU Nutrition Student and also a Chef. Personalized group instruction and sampling of great low calorie foods, increases awareness of how easy it really is to provide fun, healthy, nutritious meals. The group setting offers social support and shared experiences to encourage camaraderie between participants and a great time for all.

Group Meetings

Supportive learning and shared activities are the basis of the "10 in 10" Weight Loss & Weight Maintenance Program group meetings. Weekly assessments, presentations, deep breathing relaxation, and guided imagery visualizations are held Sundays from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Monday Water Gymnastics is held from 9:00 to 10:00 PM. Wednesday Fitness Hour is anytime between 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Wednesday Cooking Classes are from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Friday Aerobic Exercise is held from 7:00 to 8:00 AM. The "10 in 10 Team" will be on hand at all of these activities to offer one to one encouragement, mentoring and support.

Social and Spiritual Support

Research shows that many women respond better to Weight Loss and Weight Maintenance Programs if spiritual support is a part of their program, and all people in general increase the likelihood of meeting their Weight Loss goals if social support is included. The "10 in 10" Program recognizes the importance of personal relationships to God and others. It's the privilege of the "10 in 10 Team" to offer all participants this valuable personal support.

Water Gymnastics

Movement is essential to a healthy life, and water is a great place to experience the freedom of movement, and benefits of enhanced fitness and increased Weight Loss. Aqua exercise classes are a great way to boost Weight Loss. The "10 in 10" Program offers skilled water aerobics to expand participants' ideas for effective fitness fun. Aerobic Exercise

Aerobic exercise provides essential cardiovascular fitness to improve endurance, increase Weight Loss, and enhance overall health. The "10 in 10 Fitness Team" provides aerobic fitness in a relaxed fun setting that encourages weight reduction in a supportive group environment. Additional "10 in 10 Team" members are present at every Aerobic Exercise session to provide one to one mentoring and encouragement.

Body Building

Strength, cardiovascular fitness, and balance are the three essential components of complete fitness. Strength training is particularly helpful to increase bone density in women, which helps avoid broken bones. Strength training also enhances muscle production during Weight Loss, and gracefully sculpts the body, promoting a beautifully formed appearance. The "10 in 10" Weight Loss & Weight Maintenance Program is committed to helping participants maximize their strength and body tone.

Deep Breathing Relaxation

Breath is a natural healing force and minimizes the negative effects of stress. The negative effects of stress are known to decrease the ability to lose weight and also to promote upper chest tension related breathing. The "10 in 10" Weight Loss & Weight Maintenance Program offers supportive instruction in Deep Breathing Relaxation, which relaxes the Mind/Body and enhances overall wellness. Deep Breathing Relaxation, also known as the Relaxation Response, has been shown to decrease depression and anxiety, decrease pain perception, and decrease elevated blood pressure, all which are commonly associated with excess weight.

Mental Imagery Visualization

Visualization, also called Mental Imagery or Guided Imagery harnesses the power of the imagination to create a 'lived experience' that promotes dynamic Mind/Body changes. Weight Loss & Weight Maintenance Visualizations have been shown to help to reduce appetite and increase conversion of fat to energy and muscle. In addition, they help the participants to better appreciate and make peace with their bodies. The "10 in 10" Program incorporates Mental Imagery Visualization techniques for enhanced Weight Loss that have been shown to improve achievement of goals. A Weight Loss Visualization is included at the end of the Sunday evening Group Meeting (7:00 – 8:00 PM). In addition, participants are given a handout so they can use the Visualization daily on their own.

One to One Mentorship Support

The "10 in 10" Weight Loss & Weight Maintenance Program is proud to offer personalized support to all participants. Mentorship and support have been shown to improve results and increase satisfaction in Weight Loss programs. In addition, an increased amount of supportive information can be shared through this process. The "10 in 10 Team" is looking forward to helping all participants achieve their personal weight Loss goals.
