Andrews Academy Student Association Elections

Introducing the SA officers for the 2019 - 2020 school year

Andrews Academy strives to lead the way in quality education. An important component of this is nurturing the development of our future leaders. One way we accomplish this is to encourage students to run for various offices in student leadership. Students who accepted this challenge and wanted to be a Student Association officer started the process by filling out an nomination form and starting their campaigning a week before the elections. Many placed posters around the commons.

On April 16, the student association assembly began with prayer. Each of the current SA officers introduced the candidates for that office. Each candidate then made their speech to the students and faculty/staff of AA.

Voting occurred during lunch and after school on April 18.

The new Student Association Officers for 2019-2020 school year were announced on Wednesday, April 17. The election results are as follows: President - Giovanni Leonor; Social VP – Thach (Thomas) Trinh; Religious VP - Megan Woods; Secretary - Wambui Karanja; Treasurer - Jonathan Burn; Public Relations - Taeran Jeong. The Parliamentarian - Logan Robbins - was appointed by the student council a few days later.

PARENTS: You would be proud of the campaigns and the speeches your children made. Each one took it seriously and presented their ideas on why they would be a good SA officer.

CANDIDATES: Each of you did very well and need to be commended for stepping up to the challenge and being willing to volunteer a lot of your time for Andrews Academy next school year. Please remember that each of you are winners...even if you didn’t “win” the election, you still “won” by participating and experiencing campaigning and presenting your speech.

EVERYONE: Please pray for these new leaders of the school as they plan for next year’s events and implement their ideas next school year.

Please also pray for other elections happening soon as other groups organize for the 2019 - 2020 school year. The Junior class will hold their elections for next school year on April 24 so that the new Senior class officers of the class of 2020 can begin planning for next school year. NHS elections will be on May 6.
