DACA & UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS

Andrews University welcomes applications from DACA status and undocumented students residing in the United States. Graduate and undergraduate program applicants residing in the United States will not be charged the international deposit of $3,000 if their applications are completed as noted in the DACA and Undocumented Status sections below.


UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS

Students who are living in the United States with visa entry status that has expired or who entered without a visa may apply.

  1. Does Andrews University admit undocumented students?
    Yes, if they meet academic admission criteria.
  2. How should I note this on my application?
    Follow the application procedures with these answers in the noted fields:
       Are you a US citizen?: No
       Are you a U.S. Permanent Resident (Asylum, Refugee) or received approval notice of DACA status?: No
       Citizenship status: Non-US citizen
       Primary non-US citizenship: Select your country of origin
       Visa type: Other/None
       Do you have a current (unexpired) I-20 document permitting you to attend school in the US?: No
  3. Is Federal Financial Aid available to undocumented students?
    No. Federal and state financial aid is not available. Accepted students may be eligible for other aid such as institutional scholarships.

DACA STATUS

Students who are granted DACA status by the federal government (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) are considered domestic students.

  1. How should I note this on my application?
    Follow the application procedures with these answers in the noted fields:
       Are you a US citizen?: No
       Are you a U.S. Permanent Resident (Asylum, Refugee) or received approval notice of DACA status?: No
       Citizenship status: Non-US citizen
       Primary non-US citizenship: Select your country of origin
       Visa type: DACA
       Do you have a current (unexpired) I-20 document permitting you to attend school in the US?: No
  2. Should I submit my DACA authorization form?
    Yes. Upload your I-797 form as prompted in the application process, or email to the admissions office (see contact information below).
  3. Is Federal Financial Aid available to DACA students?

    No. Federal and state financial aid is not available. DACA students taking undergraduate full-tuition classes on main campus may receive a tuition reduction (contact Student Financial Services for details). Classes with reduced tuition rates, which includes all online classes, are not eligible for further discounts or Andrews Partnership Scholarships. Graduate students may be eligible for program and merit-based scholarships as described on the Graduate Admissions Scholarship webpage; they are therefore not eligible for any additional discounts.
