Position summary
Andrews Academy seeks to fill a position of Guidance Counselor for the start of the 2016-2017 school year.
Qualifications summary
Education: Master’s degree (preferred) in field of social services, including certification in school counseling
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Provides direct support service to individual students, small groups, and classrooms.
- Completes assessments, referrals, and counseling with students and families.
- Oversees implementation of Andrews Academy testing program. Consults with other professional staff and outside agencies and other organizations.
- Develops and maintains family outreach programs and community partnerships.
- Serves as a member of the family support team/crisis management and other school based teams.
- Completes written reports as needed or as requested by Principal.
- Provide direct service to students in the classroom as needed.
- Completes reports as required by Federal, State and local agencies.
- Conduct professional development workshop on identifying at-risk students.
- Help students choose the best strategies for formulating future goals and preparing for either further education, or entry into the workforce. They may administer and interpret career interest and aptitude tests and provide resources for applying to college.
