Position summary
Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Music theory and/or Ear Training.
Qualifications summary
PhD in Music Theory or DMA in Composition. Evidence of excellence in teaching and potential for scholarly activity are essential. Commitment to teamwork and collegiality. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work with students and colleagues with a wide range of national, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Fulfill all responsibilities as chair. Guide in growing, strengthening, and diversifying the Department.
- Engage in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Music Theory.
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Guide graduate research projects/theses, and Honors/Senior projects.
- Serve on departmental and university committees.
Supervisory responsibilities
Supervise Administrative Assistant, graduate Teaching Assistants, and student workers.

The work environment conditions for this job are similar to those found in any regular office and classroom environment. The noise level in the work environment includes music from rehearsal rooms nearby, instruments playing, and vocalization; however, the noise is usually moderate.
