Position summary
Teaching Music Theory/Ear Training, Music Technology, and Music Entrepreneurship
Qualifications summary
Ph.D. in Music Theory or DMA in Composition. Must demonstrate experience with Music Technology or Music Entrepreneurship. Evidence of excellence in teaching and potential for scholarly activity are essential. Commitment to teamwork and collegiality. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work with students and colleagues with a wide range of natioanl, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Engage in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Music Theory.
- Pursue new directions in the area of Music Technology or Music Entrepreneurship, with focus on Recording, Marketing, and Producing.
- Foster a wide process of Creativity and Technology including components of Improvisation and competency in a wide range of musical styles, as well as Interaction with the Community.
- Guide graduate research projects/theses, and Honors/Senior projects. Serve on departmental and university committees. Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
Supervisory responsibilities
Supervise graduate Teaching Asssitants and student workers.

The work environment conditions for this job are similar to those found in amy regular office and classroom environment. The noise level in the work environment includes music from rehearsal rooms nearby, instruments plahing, and vocalization; however, the noise is usually moderate.
