Position summary
The Undergraduate Distance Enrollment Counselor is responsible for supporting distance degree and guest students through the admissions and registration processes. Working in collaboration with the School of Distance Education, Academic Records, Student Finances, and Integrated Marketing and Communication, they assist with creating marketing materials, recruiting prospective degree and guest students, as well as pre-advising and withdrawals for distance degree students.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification required; or multiple years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
REQUIRED SKILLS
Must possess excellent skills in building relationships, oral and writing communication in English, planning and organization, database use and Microsoft Office software, and leadership of admission and enrollment processes and student workers.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
Admissions, Undergraduate Distance Education
- Processes guest students admissions and registrations in Banner
- Processes Washington Adventist University and Oakwood University Consortium admissions and registrations through SIS
- Processes undergraduate distance degree applications
- Communicates with interests in distance courses and degrees
- Processes high school student applications and registration in online AU courses
- Challenge exam registration
- Supports distance students with applying, registering, and financial student questions and issues
Pre-Advising
- Provides pre-admission advising support for prospective students
- Collaborate with Academic and Financial Advisors to help students successfully register each term
- Refer students and parents to resources outside the school for additional support
- Be prepared to suggest what jobs students would be qualified for when completing distance degrees
Management
- Manages the hiring, training and work of student workers and sets the student worker hourly rates according to evaluations
- Manages the continuous updating of the distance enrollment processes training manual
- Manage distance education student wages budget and hours
Communication
- Collaborates with School of Distance Education and Integrated Marketing and Communication on strategies for communication, marketing and recruiting to prospective undergraduate distance students
- Manages the communications that come through the sderegister@andrews.edu account
- Works with Communication Systems Coordinator to manage communication plans to interest, applicants and accepted students using email, letters and phone calls
- Communicates with students who are accepted to Andrews main campus programs but do not enroll, to offer distance education as another option
- Provide basic financial information including FAFSA and payment options before directing students to the appropriate financial advisor
Recruitment
- Works to recruit guest students into Andrews degree programs
- Building relationships with serious interests in distance education from high schools or Adventist academies
- Be actively involved in recruiting campaigns and follow up communications unique to this population
- Manages travel expenses and budget for assigned areas and provide accurate documentation
- Contributes to exploration of new markets/options for undergraduate distance students
Departmental Participation
- Assist as assigned with the Preview Weekends and other Enrollment Events
- Actively participates in assigned meetings with recruiters, departments and combined meetings with Student Financial Services
- Supports Enrollment initiatives as an active team member
- Participates in Enrollment Management office planning and development
- Participates in SDEIP Distance Student Service meetings, keeping other team members updated on frequently asked questions and issues to work together on
Supervisory responsibilities
- Manages the hiring and training of student workers and sets the student worker hourly rates according to evaluations
- Manages the continuous updating of the distance enrollment processes training manual
- Manage Distance Education Student Wages budget and hours
- Manages the budget for Distance Learning student wages
- Manages student workers that do the actual processing of the interests/applicants into the database

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or organization employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Able to read and interpret financial statements.
REASONING SKILLS
Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and insurance
