Position summary
Installs, repairs, rebuilds, and services mechanical or electrical locking devices and assists with all door repairs and door installs by performing the following duties. Handles emergency repairs beyond normal work hours as required. You must stay within fifteen minutes of the University for quick response when on call.

Duties and responsibilities
- Disassembles locks such as padlocks, safe locks, and door locks, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts, also installs and performs minor repairs of closers.
- Sets up master key systems for the University and changes lock combinations as required.
- Handles emergency lock problems.
- Cuts new or duplicate keys.
- Moves lockpick in cylinder to open doors locks without keys.
- Opens safe locks by drilling.
- Keeps records of company locks and keys.
- Co-ordinates work with Plant Service foreman.

Qualifications
Accredited Locksmith training from technical school; or two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to read blueprints very helpful. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages.
