Position summary

The individual will hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Religion and Biblical Languages and has teaching, advising, service, scholarship and administrative responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the department.

Qualifications summary

Preferred: Ph.D or D.Min or equivalent. Prepared to teach general education religion courses, pastoral ministry courses, old testament courses and biblical Hebrew.
 


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Teach a wide spectrum of classes in the Department of Religion, including practical theology courses and general education religion courses.  
Engage college-aged students in active and lively dialog and discussion through various learning methodologies on a variety of theological and doctrinal topics.
May include teaching Hebrew as well.
Academic advising responsibilities
Committee assignments
Various other functions within the Department of Religion and involvement in the wider university

Supervisory responsibilities

Supervise readers/student workers.

Qualifications

We seek a qualified candidate who demonstrates:
1) a deep personal commitment to Christ and a passion for Adventist Christian higher education, 2) teaching experience and the ability to teach effectively in a university religion classroom
3) Ph.D or D.Min or equivalent
4) evidence of scholarly interest and activity,
5) the ability to work collegially and professionally with other faculty,
6) pastoral ministry work experience and active church involvement.
7) Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
 
Applicants need to be willing to invest themselves in the spiritual growth of students. A high level of involvement and participation in the life of the Department of Religion is expected.

Interpersonal interactions

Must be comfortable interacting with students in advisory role and with faculty administration and student population.

Work environment

The work environment conditions for this job are similar to those found in any regular office and classroom environment. The department houses a piano, which is often used throughout the day.
