LITHOTECH - Bindery/Press Operator

Position summary
A bindery and press operator is expected to be able to determine what needs to be done from the job ticket and operate the listed equipment to complete the orders. When students are present the supervisor will train, assist and direct the student as necessary to complete orders in a timely fashion.
Qualifications summary
A minimum of 5 years of bindery and offset experience of setting up, operating and repair of equipment.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Prioritize the bindery and work according to delivery needs
- Proceed to set up bindery or press equipment
- Complete the order
- If scheduled, instruct and supervise students in what needs to be done
- Other duties such as ordering bindery supplies, packaging, tracking orders and repairing equipment will be part of the job functions
Supervisory responsibilities
Supervising of students and assigning work as needed.
Qualifications
Must be native English speaker. 5 years of bindery and press experience and a proficincy of being able to set up, operate, and repair equipment.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
Offset press operator for Ryobi 2 color press and AB Dick 1 color. Skills must also include operating folders, perfect binder, guillotine, Bourg saddle stitch, scoring and paper punch machines. The staff worker will also be able to set up and repair any of the above equipment.
Interpersonal interactions
Must be comfortable with instructing and directing work assignments to students. Also it will be necessary to contact customers to inform them that their order is ready.
Physical demands
Must be able to lift 75 lbs and be able to handle paper.
Work environment
Work entails exposure to fumes from perfect binder glue and solvents from offset press.
