Teach undergraduate mathematics courses, maintain an active research agenda, and serve in departmental, university, and community settings.

Qualifications summary

We seek candidates with a doctoral degree (ABD will be considered) who are committed to maintaining both an active research program and high-quality teaching across the undergraduate curriculum.  Preference will be given to candidates with a math education specialty and to those with commitment to involving undergraduates in research.  As Andrews is a national university, this position is a good fit for candidates enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with and for people from richly diverse international, cultural, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. 


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

• Carry regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, scholarship, and service


• Teach a broad spectrum of undergraduate mathematics courses


• Standard teaching loads are 7-8 courses per year with the possibility of a reduced load with research faculty status. 


• Mentor students, intentionally including those from underrepresented groups


• Advise department majors


• Maintain an active research agenda, preferably engaging undergraduate students in research


• Contribute to the university dialogue in faculty meetings and on committees

Qualifications

• Earned doctoral degree (ABD will be considered)


• Math education specialty preferred


• Active research agenda


• Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English


• Deep personal commitment to Christ and to the thoughtful application of the Bible to life


• Ability to work collegially and professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators from a rich diversity of international, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
