Position summary

The individual will hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Discipleship and Religious Education and carry regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, research and publication, and administration.  

Qualifications summary

An earned doctoral degree in religion, education, or closely related field (emphasis in Religious Education preferred). Prepared to mentor students and communicate effectively and dynamically both on a popular and scholarly level. 


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities


  1. Teach regular load of masters and doctoral courses and seminars in religious education, and related disciplines;

  2. Advise masters and doctoral students, and guide doctoral dissertations;

  3. Able to assume directorship of religious education programs (MA and PhD), if invited to do so, including recruitment and marketing;

  4. Profice advocacy and leadership in areas of expertise to the Seminary and Seventh-day Adventist church (and beyond);

  5. Participate in Seminary and University life and responsibilities; 

  6. Carry regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, research and publication, and administration.



Supervisory responsibilities

Advise masters and doctoral students, and guide doctoral dissertations.

Able to assume directorship of religious education programs (MA and PhD), if invited to do so, including recruitment and marketing. 

Qualifications


  1. Commitment to Christ, personal spiritual maturity and exemplary character; 

  2. An earned doctoral degree in religion, education, or closely related field (emphasis in Religious Education preferred);

  3. Proven competence in teaching at tertiary level, in leadership, and in significant service to the church (pastoral experience desirable);

  4. A record of academic engagement and publication and an on-going research agenda in social science methodologies;

  5. A commitment to mentor students;

  6. Capacity to communicate effectively and dynamically both on a popular and scholarly level;

  7. Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing with a solid support of Seventh-day Adventist beliefs and mission.

Technical competencies

Be familiar with classroom technology, Word and Outlook. 

Interpersonal interactions

Must be comfortable interacting with students in advisory role and with faculty administration and student population.
