Position summary

The individual will hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Discipleship & Religious Education and carry regulary faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, research and publication, and administration. 

Qualifications summary

An earned doctoral degree in religion, education, or closely related field. Be committed to mentor students and a capacity to communicate effectively and dynamically both on a popular nd scholarly level. Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing with solid support of Seventh-day Adventist beliefs and mission.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Teach assigned masters and doctoral courses and seminars in religious education; 

2. Lead teacher in school-church ministry courses; 

3. Advocacy in conferences and unions for school-church ministry integration; 

4. Coordinate field school experience for seminary students; 

5. Able to assume leadership, recruitment, and marketing responsibilities for the MA (Religious Education) program, if invited; 

6. Participate in Seminary and University life and responsibilities; 

7. Carry regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, research and publication, and administration.

Supervisory responsibilities

Be able to advise and mentor MA students.

Will be responsible for supervising their own Graduate Assistant. 

Qualifications

1. Commitment to Christ, personal spiritual maturity and exemplary character; 

2. An earned doctoral degree in religion, education, or closely related field; 

3. Understanding of interplay between pastors-schools-congregations; 

4. A dynamic change agent; 

5. Competence in teaching at tertiary level and ability to engage in academic scholarship. 

6. Proven record of leadership and significant service to the church; pastoral experience desirable; 

7. Commitment to mentor students; 

8. Capacity to communicate effectively and dynamically both on a popular and scholarly level; 

9. Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing with solid support of Seventh-day Adventist beliefs and mission.

Technical competencies

Be familiar with classroom technology, Word and Outlook.

Interpersonal interactions

Must be comfortable interacting with students in an advisory role and with faculty administration and student population.

Work environment

Must be able to walk up and down stairs, be able to sustain necessary physical activity level in required classroom settings, and be able to stand for up to 3 hours at a time in possible teaching environments.
