Position summary
The Coordinator of Development and Alumni Relations plays a key role in helping Andrews Academy fulfill its mission and goals. The Director will: provide leadership for Andrews Academy's development and alumni programs, raise funds for Andrews Academy, organize and maintain donor and alumni records, plan and execute donor and alumni events, including alumni weekend, and perform such other tasks as assigned by the principal. The Coordinator will help to ensure Andrews Academy's success through financial health and the perpetuation of vital school traditions and values.
Qualifications summary
- Fifth year college/univ; 2-4 yrs related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong writing, editing, computer skills
- Ability to organize and maintain accurate records
- Self-motivated
- Ability to demonstrate and communicate philanthropy and Christian stewardship principles in all aspects of work and life
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graphic design experience
- Development experience
- Andrews Academy graduate

Duties and responsibilities
Essential responsibilities:
Cultivate friends and supporters of Andrews Academy

Develop and administer a successful development program that includes:
-
developing a case statement for support
-
an annual fund program
a. Direct-mail appeals/letter writing campaigns
b. Annual phonathon
c. Electronic and web-based campaigns
-
Asking for, and receiving, major gifts
-
Organizing and maintaining accurate donor records
-
Overseeing prompt gift receding, processing and expressions of appreciation
-
Providing appropriate content for the Academy website, promoting giving opportunities
-
Identifying, and applying for, appropriate grants
-
A planned giving program
-
Executing various campaigns that arise from time to time (e.g., capital campaigns and other targeted-purpose campaigns)

Preparing and distributing an annual report

Administer and oversee complementary efforts, including:
-
Developing materials for campaigns
-
Managing efforts to promote donor recognition
-
Coordinating special events
-
Annual board/faculty/donor dinner
-
Annual Adventist retirees in Michiana dinner
-
Cultivate and nurture alumni relations
-
Plan and coordinate the annual alumni weekend programs and activities
-
Organize and maintain accurate alumni records
-
Regularly communicate with alumni through a variety of methods
-
Edit, publish and distribute the continuum
-
Coordinate periodic, regional alumni reunions
-
Coordinate a recognition program for distinguished alumni

Promote team-based efforts to support the Academy

Work closely with the principal
-
While protecting the time in role of the faculty, explore appropriate ways for faculty to participate in the mission, goals and operations of the development and alumni programs

At least two times each year, make a report to the Andrews Academy operating bored
-
Work with a development committee and cultivating and nurturing friends and supporters of the school

Work with various alumni committee's/groups to carry out the cultivation and nurturing of alumni

Additional responsibilities as assigned by the principal
Supervisory responsibilities
May be assigned a student worker and secretary (budget pending)
Qualifications
Required qualifications:

Ability to get along with people and work as part of the team

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
