Position summary

The aviation maintenance instructor is responsible for teaching, planning, organizing, and operating within an FAA approved part 147 maintenance school, designed to prepare students for the Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) career and related aerospace and technical fields. With commitment to Christian higher eduction, must integrate faith and learning in the aviation maintenance program.

Qualifications summary

Successful applicants will possess a Bachelor's degree or Associate degree with equivelant experance.  A PhD or Masters in aviation or related field is perfered.
Applicants must hold a current A&P. An IA certificate is perfered.
Must have the ability to deliver a clear and accurate technical instructional message in a manner the is appropriate for the individual or audience.
Must have or be able to pass the FAA Fundamental of Instruction written exam.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching current classes in the FAA part 147 maintenance school.
Ability to supervise students in the maintenance labs and maintain a safe working enviroment.
Teaching aircraft systems classes in the flight school as needed.
Devlope and build class room training aids for the maintenance school as required.
Maintain current maintenance equipment and aircraft as needed.
Providing academic advising to current maintenance students.
Maintain Regular scheduled office hours,
Other accademic and committee respondilities as assigned, includign timely compliance with departmental and university responsibilites and policies.
Preform admistrative taskes including documentation, record keeping,reading budget statements, and operating within fiscal parameters.
Participate in program promotion, recruiting, and public relations.

Supervisory responsibilities

The ability to supervise student workers working as lab assistants, readers, and mechanics.
Maintain a safe enviroment through instruction, personal example, policy, and continous evaluation.

Qualifications

Current Airframe and Powerplant license.
Inspection Authorization
10+ years years of working as an AMT technician
Two years of teaching or supervisory experance desired.
Designated Maintenance Examinar or previously held designation perfered.
Significant aircraft experance on a large varity of aircraft.
Demonstrate creative ability to develop curricula, materials, and projects.
Commitment to continuing education.
Perfer 121/135 and or 145 experance
 


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Turbine engine and heavy aircraft maintenance experance desired.
Computer literate including Microsoft Office and aircraft maintenance software.

Interpersonal interactions

The ability to comunicate and interact within a multicultural enviroment with awareness and commitment to the needs of both the traditional and none traditional student.
 

Physical demands

Must be able to perform all types of aircraft maintenance functions including moving and fueling aircraft in all types of weather.

Work environment

In addition to teaching in the modern classroom, the applicant must be able to work outside on the aircraft flight line in all types of Michigan weather.  Must be able to get into and out of all types and sizes of aircraft.
