Position summary
K-12 music teacher with specific experience in handbell ensembles and band at beginning and advanced levels. Able to teach elementary level music classes.
Qualifications summary
- Experience as a secondary school or elementary school teacher
- Preferred masters' degree
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
All duties listed below are negotiable:
- Lead and conduct the academy Handbells ensemble
- Lead and conduct the elementary concert band
- Lead and conduct the elementary beginning band
- Lead and conduct other ensembles as assigned (e.g. strings, handbells, chimes, recorders)
- Organize and lead public performaces and tours
- Meet the various responsibilies in a manner consistent with the board-approved budet
- Attend faculty meetings
- Supervise and/or coordinate University students' practices, student teaching and other collaborite activity
- Cultivate friends and supporters of the schools' music programs
- Regularly consult and collaborate with the AU's Dept. of Music
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the academy and/or elementary principals
Supervisory responsibilities
- Supervise and/or coordinate University students' practices, student teaching and other collaborite activity
- Supervise and plan tours
Qualifications
- Member of the SDA church in regular standing, who is passionate about Christ and committed to th church and its values
- Positive attitude
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to get along with people
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse university setting
- Denomination and state secondary education credentials - or eligibility to qualify
- Experience as a secondary school or elementary school teacher
- Preferred masters' degree

Technical competencies
Need to be able to be able to update grades in school software, return emails, work with printers to create programs for performances.
Interpersonal interactions
Must be comfortable interacting with students.
Must be a team player.
Physical demands
Must be healthy enough to tour with students
Must be able to work full days, often on your feet
