Position summary
Proactively work to assess market realities, challenges and opportunities. Create and execute strategic undergraduate, graduate and discipline specific enrollment marketing and communication initiatives to successfully position Andrews University as the university of choice. This process is achieved through collaboration with key enrollment, academic and University administration and staff to develop and execute strategic solutions to help ensure achievement of defined enrollment goals for Andrews University. Involvement with or oversight of other University marketing initiatives and support staff beyond student enrollment marketing initiatives is also a responsibility of this position.
Qualifications summary
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related fields
- Two or more years experience in marketing and/or higher education preferred
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Articulate and develop support for strategic marketing initiatives from University administration (president, provost, appropriate deans and VPs, as well as embedded marketing/enrollment staff) regarding enrollment and strategic marketing priorities and needs.
- Monitor and provide marketing guidance and resources to academic and support areas across campus.
- Within the context of agreed-upon campus priorities, develop, guide and execute all general and/or targeted undergraduate, graduate and distance enrollment marketing & communication strategies (both general and discipline/s specific) for Andrews University.
- Be responsible for understanding, setting and communicating enrollment and marketing strategies and approaches. (PROACTIVE)
- Provide ongoing reports to appropriate administrative and academic leaders, as well as IMC and enrollment support staff across campus regarding enrollment marketing projects and priorities. (REACTIVE)
- Create annual calendar of enrollment and strategic marketing projects that will serve as the foundation for overall enrollment marketing initiatives.
- As appropriate, assess and respond to additional enrollment marketing initiative requests from academic units through consultation, guidance, project initiation and management.
- Directly collaborate with and supervise, where appropriate, the Distance Education Marketing Manager to best understand points of connection and to assure synergy between on-campus and distance education enrollment marketing initiatives.
- Encourage, support and develop campus-wide understanding and use of enrollment marketing strategies.
- Respond to emails and voice messages.
- Develop, understand and manage the overall strategic marketing, printing and related budgets, and process invoices for promotional material, contracts, vendors and other enrollment marketing-related expenses.
- In collaboration with IMC operations manager, develop and maintain effective tracking system for prospective, existing and long-term enrollment marketing projects.
- Other general supervisory and managerial responsibilities.

- Long-term plan to fund and place a full-time Enrollment & Strategic Marketing Coordinator
- Student Enrollment Marketing Assistant, Integrated Marketing & Communication
- Student Inventory Manager, Integrated Marketing & Communication
- Enrollment Marketing Intern (when available)
Qualifications
Must have understanding of higher education marketing principles and effective communication technology and tools to effectively target and enroll potential student markets.
An expanding knowledge of the expectations of those target markets, which tools and communication media are required, and which distinctive strengths Andrews University has to offer these students require ongoing study and growing expertise.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
- Proficient in Mac operating system environment
- Nortel phone system
- Liquid Planner, Slack
- Hootsuite social media marketing tools
- Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Outlook)
- Good understanding of Banner
- Related student list and marketing communication software tools assessment/purchase
Interpersonal interactions
Consistent collaboration with Enrollment Mangement personnel
Interaction with Integrated Marketing & Communication team and its various resources (i.e. web, design, photography)
Collaboration and communication with schools, colleges and individual academic departments across campus in creating enrollment marketing materials and resources
Presentation of strategy and market trends to various campus constituents
Physical demands
Must be able to lift, move and organize heavy boxes of marketing materials (T-shirts, notebooks, pens, etc).
Must be able to stand for long periods of time at marketing events (booth staffing, new student orientation, etc.)
Work environment
Collaborate and work in multiple offices, including assigned office in Integrated Marketing & Communication, and collaborative work space in Enrollment Management.
Relatively noisy work environment with multiple interruptions.
