Position summary

The Department of Visual Art, Communication & Design in the College of Arts & Sciences is seeking an assistant, associate professor, or producer-in-residence expert in new media journalism, broadcast journalism or television production to teach undergraduate level courses in one or more of those areas. With a brand new broadcast television studio in place at the University, we are also seeking someone who can utilize the facilities to advance the program. Candidate will manage broadcast studio facilities and work closely with our studio manager handling outside projects. Advises students and oversees some student projects, and continues developing professional projects.

Qualifications summary

A graduate degree is preferred, but exceptionally strong candidates without a graduate degree will be considered.

A minimum of 3-5 years of industry experience, with a strong professional portfolio.

Teaching experience is highly preferred.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Teaches undergraduate students in journalism, new media, and broadcast television, and other possible areas coming out of their industry experience.

Manages broadcast studio facilities and post-production suites.

Advises students, and oversees some student research and student productions.

Provides service to the department, school and university on appropriate committees and projects.

Continues developing professional projects and peer-reviewed research that raise the prestige of the faculty in the program.

Physical demands

Needs to be able to stand for long durations, operate studio equipment, and transport multi-camera production equipment.

Work environment

Will spread time in between office, classrooms, and the television studio, all of which are controlled environments.
