Position summary

Assistant or associate professor in Communication will teach courses such as Communication Theory, Interpersonal Communication, Media Literacy, Intercultural Communication, Group Dynamics and Leadership, Persuasion, Research Methods in Communication, Crisis Communication, Communication Research, as well as Graduate Thesis mentorship. In addition to teaching the applicant will advise students in their courses and may be asked to be an adviser for some student projects. Candidate will work closely with other faculty to increase the value of our program.

Qualifications summary

A Phd is required. As strong record of teaching and research is preferred. The applicant should have a strong interest in growing our MA Communication program, with a strong portfolio of communication research, and record of publication.  A commitment to Seventh-Day-Adventist Education, and a Christian worldview is vital. Candidates should have a commitment to teamwork and collegiality, as well as a strong interest in mentoring students.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Teaches undergraduate and graduate students in Communication related courses. Helps to foster growth in the graduate program, and a sense of community and excitement within the Department. Advises students, and oversees some graduate study and independent study as necessary. Provides service to the department, school and university on appropriate committees and projects. Continues developing personal research and publication as appropriate for a full-time faculty member.

Supervisory responsibilities

Advises students, particularly for Graduate Thesis mentorship.Oversees some graduate study and independent study as necessary.

Physical demands

Due to the size of our department we have classes spread over 4 different buildings. A moderate amount of walking may be required to get to certain classes.

Work environment is quiet and includes a private office in the Communication Department.
