ANNUAL GIVING - Student Assistant for Social Media Management

Position summary

We are looking for a student with website development, maintenance, graphic design and video editing to improve our website and social media outlet in order to enhance our philanthropic efforts for Andrews.

Qualifications summary

The student should be in a computer science, engineering, or related degree program; or has demonstrated required skills.  The student should be skilled at problem diagnosis and problem solving.

Duties and responsibilities

1.  Help with converting and maintaining the website as envisioned, including embedded video.

2.  Have awareness and some experience with social media diagnostic and analytic tools.

3.  Work as needed on the development facebook page and/or other social media platforms.

4.  Occasionally, documentation will need to be written.

5.  Find and edit computer graphics.

6.  Troubleshoot and resolve basic user issues regarding the website.

7.  Keep work environment, systems, and equipment secure from abuse or misuse.

8.  May be asked to perform data entry, record keeping, or other administrative tasks.

9.  Participate in training sessions and staff meetings when requested.

10.  Assist in website awareness and training for development employees.

11.  Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1.  Currently in a computer science, engineering or related degree program; or has demonstrated requried skills.

2.  Problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills.

3.  Customer service and communication skills.

4.  Ability to work on your own or in a team environment.

5.  Some knowledge of HTML or other code languages will be helpful.

6.  Willing to learn the basics of philanthropy.

7.  Ability to adapt to changing priorities.

8.  Good interpersonal and communication skills.

9.  Thorough and precise with your work.

10.  Be creative and imaginative.

11.  Knowledge of Adobe Pro, InDesign, and Photoshop will be helpful.

12.  Ability to work with minimal supervision.

 

Technical competencies

1.  Some knowledge of HTML or other code languages will be helpful.

2.  Knowledge of Adobe Pro, InDesign, and Photoshop will be helpful.

 

Interpersonal interactions

The student assistant must be able to work independently as well as with a team.  Also, there will be interactions from time to time with donors, either face to face or on the telephone; therefore, the student worker must have excellent customer service/interpersonal skills.

Physical demands

May need to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.

Work environment

The student worker will work in an office setting in the office of development in Griggs Hall.
