MEIER HALL - Student maintenance worker
Meier Hall summer maintenance students will work with the Maintenance Director in addressing the overall general maintenance needs for all student rooms, as well as potential needs of the interior structure of the building if needed.
Student workers should have a good work ethic, be punctual, a working knowledge of home repair, a willingness to learn, and be comfortable in either a team environment, or alone with minimal supervision.
Duties and responsibilities
Painting, carpet tear out and installation, general repairs in student rooms (towel bars, shower heads, toilet seats, lights, faucet aerators, etc...)
Experience in painting, plumbing, carpentry or general home repair is a plus, but a willingness to learn new skills, and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision, while completing the task, is highly sought after.
A student worker should be comfortable working within a team environment or apart with minimal supervision.
A student worker should understand that the nature of the job would require certain physical demands, such as the ability to lift 50-75lbs, carry ladders up stairs, carry paint buckets, stand on ladders, as well as kneel for an extended period of time, etc...
The student worker will work inside the building most of the time. The worker will be exposed to water based paint and carpet glue. The student worker will be working on ladders at times, as well as having contact with floor carpet. The student worker will be exposed to noises such as cordless screwdrivers, dremel tools, and carpet removing machines. The carpet removing machine does vibrate as well. (ear plugs, masks, gloves, and safety glasses are provided.)
