Duties and responsibilities
- The caregiver will be trained to assist in the classroom and care for children.
- Supervises a class with the teacher.
- Assumes the responsibilities of the teacher during the absence of the teacher.
- Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
- Assists and coordinates snacks, meals, nap time and bathroom activities.
- Provides the children with verbal praises and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.
- Maintains the Crayon Box's professional attitude and work behavior.
- Observes all rules and regulations of The Crayon Box and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
- Assists in other capacities, as determined by the Director.
- You will be involved in all aspects of caring for children in your care.
- Follows the schedule, as determined by the Director.

May supervise student workers, as determined by the Director
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma.
- Must be flexible to work a possibly inconsistent schedule based on the needs of our children.
- Must have a warm and friendly personality with sensitivity to the feelings and needs of both children and adults.
- Display a willingness to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the center's philosophy and mission.
- Job requires much physical activity and a high energy level.
- Previous experience caring for children.
- CPR and First Aid certifications preferred but not required.
- Willing to be trained in infant safe sleep, shaken baby and other child related topics.

Physical demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Will push lunch cart to the cafeteria and back daily in various weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
Work environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
