Position summary
The Alumni Communication Specialist plays an important role in supporting the overall operations of the alumni team. It is designed to enhance the Office of Alumni Services by serving as a project implementation coordinator. This role requires a variety of communication responsibilities and must demonstrate a high level of reasoning and marketing skills. This person is responsible for the careful execution of alumni marketing plans in place by the administration. This position is focused on working with the existing marketing and communication strategies to oversee various communication campaigns in the University Advancement.

Duties and responsibilities
Communication Management
- Deploy preset marketing strategies through the internal email marketing platforms.
- Modify, and review reports in the email marketing platform to gauge results.
- Review and prepare marketing reports on the various marketing efforts via email marketing platform as well as social media platforms.
- Setup emails in the email marketing platform as instructed based on various criteria and variable data provided.
- Communicate with the University Editor to ensure that the data is accurate and grammatically sound.
- Work with the Integrated Marketing and Communication department on ensuring that the communication and emails are adhering to the University branding guidelines.
- Prepare reports on results of the marketing campaigns and potential adjustments that may be needed to be presented to the Alumni Director and others.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUREMENTS

Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position is acceptable. However, Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is encouraged, Andrews University granted degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Three or more years of experience are necessary, working in the areas of marketing and communication. Social media and web technologies experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The ability to effectively and clearly communicate via a variety of communication channels is required. Clear and concise writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate via email is also necessary. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively via phone and in person. English language proficiency is a must.
MATHEMATICAL/COMPUTING SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts is necessary, to reconcile receipts and do basic calculations. Must be familiar with working in Microsoft Office Suite and be proficient in working with a computer. Excellent skills in marketing and communication platforms such as Email Marketing systems, some HTML skills are a plus.

Interpersonal interactions
Must be comfortable working in an office with other alumni staff. Must be able to prepare reports, work with other departments and be able to finish projects according to a deadline.
