ACADEMY GENERAL - K-12 Music Teacher

Position summary
Seeking a certified, highly motivated music teacher for Andrews Academy and Ruth Murdoch Elementary School, the laboratory schools at Andrews University. The ideal candidate will have a strong choral and music education background. Primary duties will be to teach choir and handbells. Must adhere to the Adventist beliefs and be able to maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning that is appropriate for the spiritual, social, emotional and physical development of students.
Qualifications summary
To perform the job successfully candidates must have minimum qualifications of a Bachelor's Degree, hold a current NAD and State certification or be eligible to obtain both, demonstrate professional competence in specialized areas as a music teacher, and have a passion to engage and inspire students to strive for excellence. Be a team player with willingness to work in a collaborative environment with fellow teachers and parents.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
Lead an integrated music program, coordinate and conduct various ensembles, organize and lead public performances and tours, teach music education courses, and supervise graduate studies (as needed).
Works closely with a co-music teacher to provide both RMES and AA with a full comprehensive music program.
Job may include supervision duties.
Job will include evening and weekend activites including but not limited to concerts, school events, club sponsorships, and tours.
Applicant must feel comfortable organizing and leading 50+ students on tour.
Attends faculty and possible student intervention meetings
Works at a student advisor
Supervisory responsibilities
Student worker, supervises students for classes, extracurricular functions
Qualifications
Seventh-day Adventist in regular standing. Postive attitude. Denomination and State education credentials. Teaching experience in secondary or elementary education. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with principal, faculty, students, parents, university, and community. Masters degree perferred.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
Needs to be able to do basic computer functions, write emails and have some basic know-how

Must be comfortable interacting with students in advisory role
Physical demands
Must be able lift instruments to load trailer
Must be in good physical health
Work environment
Music classroom can be loud and and chaotic
