PLANT SERVICE - Painter

Job Classification

  Hourly Full-time (35-40)

Position summary

Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or laquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces. Also handles emergency repairs beyond normal work hours as required and shift work when needed. Must be accessible within fifteen minutes of the University for quick response when on call.

Qualifications summary

High School diploma or general education degree (GED): two years minimum painting experience and or training. Must be skilled in drywall/plaster finishing. Must have a USA or Canadian driver license.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Read work orders and receive instruction from a supevisor for painting. Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform task. Smooths surfaces and removes old paint from surfaces to prepare for painting. Make plaster repairs as needed. Finishes drywall as needed.

Qualifications

Physical demands

Regular use of hands to finger, handle, or feel. Regular walking and reaching including climbing. Able to lift 50 lbs. and occassionaly up to 100 lbs. Have good visison, depth preception and ablilty to adjust and focus.

Work environment

You will be frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather condtions.  You will also be exposed to wet and/or humid condtions, moving mechanical parts extreme heat, and high precarious places.
