CENTER-READING LEARNING ASSESSMENT - Graduate Assistant

Position summary
Are you a graduate student whose first language is English? We are looking for graduate students who would be graduate assistant to the Consultant/Coordinator. Your responsibility is to learn all that is done to be a support to a reading specialist. After your training, you should be able to conduct your own Orton Gillingham-multi-sensory based reading intervention sessions, and be able to train others who are learning.

Qualifications summary

Pass a screening for following directions and hearing the sounds of the English language
Be a dedicated and patient individual who has a heart to teach and learn
Obtain training in Orton-Gillingham based multi-sensory reading intervention
Duties and responsibilities
Be consistent in meeting your scheduled appointments. Follow the Andrews University Code of Ethics as well as the dress code.
Be willing to work with individuals with reading, learning, memory, and attention challenges. A lesson plan is required for each session.
Supervisory responsibilities
You will be asked to supervise from time to time when your direct supervisor is absent.
Always supervise your students at all times.
Qualifications
English is your first language,
Training required in Orton-Gillingham based multi-sensory reading intervention.
Be willing to do menial responsibilities outside of your position.
Technical competencies
Pass a typing and filing test at HR.
Interpersonal interactions
We need someone with a pleasant demeanor, patient, and kind teacher as well as understanding and always project a Christian character. Be willing to learn different things and accept suggestions from others.
Physical demands
Be healthy. Being sick will make you absent, and absence or inconsistency is detrimental to progress.
Work environment
This is a learning center. We are expected to know and master what we need to teach.
