CUSTODIAL SERVICES - Building Supervisor Heavy Duty

Position summary

Responsible for cleaning a number of university buildings with the use of student workers. Supervises, coordinates and evaluates performance of student workers engaged in custodial services to the educational buildings of Andrews University.

Duties and responsibilities



Supervisory responsibilities

Directly supervises 10-20 student employees. Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the university’s policies: set schedules and make sure the daily jobs get done. Responsibilities include participative interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical competencies

Must have a good general knowledge of computers

Interpersonal interactions

Must be able to relate to international students in an advisory role.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Must be able to use cleaning machines,- extractors - buffers - heavy duty floor machines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in varying light conditions.

 

Work environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
