Position summary
This position will work with a team to manage the curriculum and students from Kindergarten through 8th grade. The director will work closely with parents and students and must be comfortable with distance education best practices in order to assist parents of younger students to navigate the instructional based curriculum while coaching middle school students in the online learning platform

Duties and responsibilities
Here is a list of typical activities:
- Promptly responds to email and phone calls from students
- Approves K-8 Enrollments (verifies documents)
- Communicates GIA information to perspective parents
- Trains, supports, and supervises teachers that manage middle school courses
- Mentoring home school families on a regular basis
- Providing academic assistance/tutoring as needed
- Write evaluations for students in Grades 1-5
- Assist in problem solving student issues for K-8
- Communicate with students and parents regularly through out the year
- Arranges for placement exams, alternate exams
- Consults in course planning for K-8
- Managing online subscriptions of software for K-8
- Work in a Learning Management System (LMS) and Student Information System (SIS)
- Serves on assigned committees: K-12 Curriculum & Standards, Course Planning, and others as assigned.
- Provides extra curricular activities such as story time, blog activities, on-campus visits, science projects, etc.
- Supervise university student employees that assist in K-8
- Reviews course surveys to assist in making decisions for course development
- Work with the marketing initiatives to target K-8 students
- Emphasize customer service as an overall goal in each area of this position
- Provide detailed orientations for new students/families
- Use innovative thinking to continuously improve the delivery of courses
- Participate in professional development that relates to distance learning
- Keep current with the best practices of online learning and latest technology
Supervisory responsibilities
The Director of K-8 will be supervising course curriculum contract workers and university student employees.
Qualifications
The candidate will need to have at least a undergraduate degree in the area of K-8 Education and a Masters degree in a related field. It is ideal if the candidate is biligual. Having a high level of experience in technology will be very important. This is a position that requires team effort to build the best possible product.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
Be able to use a SIS, LMS, Zoom, Skype, etc.
Interpersonal interactions
Must be skilled and comfortable in the following areas:
- telephone communicatins
- sending out email to build student/ teacher relationships
- mentoring students to help them succeed
- tutoring as needed
- giving feedback to students on work
Physical demands
This job includes sitting in the office for long hours.
Work environment
The area is quiet, but includes many hours of sitting and talking on the phone.
