Position summary
The Young 5s Teacher will help to create a fun environment and incorporate educational programs that assist in our children’s development. They will be responsible for monitoring and teaching the 5 year-old children in our program, developing a curriculum that the children will respond to positively and partnering with our team to enhance the learning environment at our school. Hours are 8:30 am - 12:30 pm Monday - Friday.
Qualifications summary
- 2+ years’ experience working with children in a classroom setting
- Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma.
- High engery
- Must love children.
- Degree or major in elementary education, child guidance/counseling, child psychology, family studies, or social work preferred.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a constructive and ongoing rapport with children and parents
- Create activities that are fun and educational for the children
- Collaborate with other teachers to ensure that the school fosters an environment that is inviting and nurturing for every child
- Deliver reports on potential concerns about students as to management as needed
- Manage day-to-day classroom activities, including structured lessons, free play, bathroom breaks, lunch time and rest time for students
Supervisory responsibilities
Will supervise student workers, as determined by the Director
Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience working with children in a classroom setting
- Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma.
- Degree or major in elementary education, child guidance/counseling, child psychology, family studies, or social work preferred.
- Must have a warm and friendly personality with sensitivity to the feelings and needs of both children and adults.
- Display a willingness to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the center's philosophy and mission.
- Job requires much physical activity and a high energy level.
- CPR and First Aid certifications preferred but not required.
- Willing to be trained in child related topics.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
