Position summary

Full-time (12-month) tenure track medical laboratory science (MLS) faculty for a NAACLS accredited MLS Program with skills to effectively teach university courses for undergraduate and graduate students and participate in appropriate scholarly and service activities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences. Candidate should demonstrate competence in both didactic and clinical education and curriculum development.

Qualifications summary


  1. Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent with national (U.S.) recognized certification such as that from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

  2. Experience in major areas of the clinical laboratory such as blood bank, clinical chemistry, immunology, and/or molecular diagnostics.

  3. Commitment to professional development.

  4. Advanced degree preferred. Individual with extensive clinical laboratory experience may also be considered.




Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities


  1. Teach medical laboratory science courses and their respective student laboratories as required for the NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Science Program.

  2. Serve as academic advisor.

  3. Participate in curriculum development and student evaluation.

  4. Work with adjunct clinical instructors at affiliate facilities, including clinical site visitation (travel required).

  5. Serve on assigned department and university committees.

  6. Engage in research activities with students and colleagues.

  7. Participate in student recruiting activities.

  8. Uphold the Mission of the MLS Department.



Supervisory responsibilities

May be required to supervise student workers.

Qualifications


  1. Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent with national (U.S.) recognized certification such as that from the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Advanced specialty certification preferred.

  2. Experience in major areas of the clinical laboratory such as blood bank, clinical chemistry, immunology, and/or molecular diagnostics.

  3. Collegial team player with good communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.

  4. Effective teaching experience either in an academic setting or as a clinical instructor.

  5. Commitment to professional development.

  6. Advanced degree preferred. Individual with extensive clinical laboratory experience may also be considered.




Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Able to maintain and create teaching materials as required to keep MLS curriculum relevant and meet or exceed program accreditation requirements.

Interpersonal interactions

Must be comfortable interating with students in advisory role.

Physical demands

Must able to lift at least 25 pounds.

Work environment

May be required to stand for long periods of time.
