Position summary
Works closely with the VP for Financial Administration.
Helps plan and document/implement the budget each year. High involvment with the budget process.
Manages the univeristy's cash position on a daily basis.
Works on special projects as requested.
Qualifications summary
BS in Accounting
Must be a CPA
Must be familiar with US Tax Law
Experience in Not For Profit Fund accounting preferred
Experience with Working Policies of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists preferred
Familiarity with the North American Division Retirement Plan preferred
Must possess good communication and people skills
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Banking/Accounting
- Manage day-to-day Cash Balances, including transferring funds between accounts
- Daily review of all checks written, especially ones over $10,000
- Review Firms A/R on regular basis with Accounting and Collections
- Work with accountants to solve bank disputes
- Monitor and work closely with Accounting in preparing for and completing the annual audit
- Assist the CFO
- Special Projects
- Create documents from Data Warehousing as needed by CFO
- Creation/monitoring of cash flow of the university
- Creation of simpler financial statement presentation
- Discovering and developing new lines of revenue for the university
- Support the CFO whenever needed
- Budgeting
- Prepare, update, work with, and train others on the use of the Online Budgeting Module, including revenue projections
- Help budget for university cost centers
- Help create and maintain Capital Budget
- Review and sign contracts while comparing them to the Operating Budget
- Prepare Monthly Budget journal vouchers as needed
- Create ways to streamline Online Budget Module
- Create ways to streamline the Budget Process
- Other Items
- Work with the Data Warehouse Manager to create/maintain certain financial forms to be used by Financial Administration
- Create and maintain Capital Expenditures worksheets
- Attend/participate with the financial team of CYE during Camporee
- Work with auditors on complicated and infrequent substantial transactions throughout the year as necessary
- Participate in financing discussions
- Prepare/maintain many specialized Excel spreadsheets
- Work with ITS in training the campus on Payment Card Industry standards
- Be available to help all direct reports to Financial Administration
- Be prepared daily to extinguish “fires” around campus
Committee Responsibility
- Serves as either as chair, secretary, member, officer or ex-officio member on various committees of the university as well as University Board of Trustees and Sub-committees
Supervisory responsibilities
Will review and work with the Financial Records department.
Qualifications
