Position summary

This is a one-year interim non-tenure track position at the rank of instructor to teach Spanish language classes at all levels, including grammar, conversation, composition, and writing. Preferred emphasis in translation, specially medical vocabulary.

This is a 75% FTE position and it requires teaching 18-19 credits per year, supervising language labs connected to classes, attending department meetings, holding office hours, providing outside class assistance/support to students, organizing activities for majors/minors, helping with translations of documents or events, collaborating with student previews, being willing to help in any last minute activity. 

Qualifications summary

Masters or doctoral degree in Spanish; a minimum of three years of experience in higher education; a minimum of three years of experience in elementary or secondary education in the US; evidence of high quality teaching and excellent colleagiality; demonstrate extra-curricular involvement.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching 18-19 credits per year; supervising language labs connected to classes, attending department meetings, holding a minimum of nine office hours per week, providing outside class assistance/support to students, organizing activities for majors/minors, helping with translations of documents or events, collaborating with student previews, being willing to help in any last minute activity.  

Supervisory responsibilities

Work closely with Spanish lab instructors to make sure that lab content and activities are completed in within a given timeframe. Supervision of student teaching at either elementary or secoindary level in area schools.

Qualifications

Master's or doctoral degree in Spanish; knowledge of online textbook assistance websites; excellent writing skills; native Spanish language proficiency; knowledge of different uses of Spanish; knowledge of culture and language diversity in the Hispanic world;. 


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
