Position summary
Serves as admissions counselor to effectively build relationships, complete applications and recruit transfer students from other colleges and universities. Serves in undergraduate admissions office to see the transfer students through processes from interest, application, and enrollment. Advises guest students on campus, including high school dual enrollment guests, showing them options at Andrews University. Coordinates and schedules recruiting appointments/trips to events focused on students interested in transferring to Andrews University from another college. Connects with high school students graduating from home schools for advising, applying, and enrolling at Andrews University. Helps with visits and events on campus for prospective students.

Duties and responsibilities
Admissions
- Works as back up for Undergraduate Distance Enrollment Counselor in helping with processing and meeting the distance education students needs
- Manages the Guest students that come to campus
- Manages the Dual Enrolled High School Guest students that come to campus
- Participates with assigned admissions activities as they relate to the needs of the prospective students
- Counsel and pre-advise assigned students on various majors
- Meets with prospective students who visit from assigned territories
- Participates in specific admissions activities as they relate to the needs of the transfer students
- Becomes familiar with the various department admissions requirements and disseminates materials and information to prospects
- Knowledgeable about campus departments
- Counsels and advises students on various majors
- Coordinates with the Acacemic Records office to assist in directing students to appropriate information regarding transfer credits with general articulation information (i.e. websites/charts)
- Actively works to make sure data integrity is being completed with the aid of student assistant
- Actively participates in campus committees and presentations
- Acts as recording secretary for the Undergraduate Admissions Committee as a non-voting member
Recruitment
- Schedules and attends visits to regional transfer fairs, and homeschool events
- Manages transfer recruitment budget items
- Coordinates with the Public High School Enrollment Counselor with combination High School / Transfer college fairs
- Maintains a regular presence at area community colleges that Andrews University has agreements with
- Provides general advice about college preparation, specific information about Andrews University including academics, about scholarships, extracurricular opportunities, etc. and connecting to our Student Visit office regarding campus visit opportunities
- Works in conjunction with departments to plan and hold Transfer Open Houses on campus
- Is knowledgeable of academic calendars and newspapers for community colleges – find areas where AU can be marketed, seek opportunities to communicate directly with students
- Represents Andrews at assigned camp meetings and graduations
- Follow Up visitation and communication plan individualized by school as needed
- Arranges and attends yearly Financial Aid Workshops for key area homeschool groups
- Represents Andrews at assigned graduation
- Communicates with students and parents
- Is knowledgeable of academic calendars and newspapers for area high schools – find areas where AU can be marketed, seek opportunities to communicate directly with students
- Develops ongoing relationships with students and parents
- Projects a professional image throughout the various marketing and recruitment activities
- Knowledgeable about campus departments
- Participates in virtual webinars and previews
- Network with education departments from various conferences to determine how to best recruit homeschoolers
- Network with community college advisors to promote Andrews to the community college
Communication
- Provides pre-advising support, as appropriate and needed, for transfer students, previously attended students and those planning to transfer in the future
- Manages transfer webpage content
- Manages the communications that come through the transfers@andrews.edu and precollege@andrews.edu
- Manages the communication to applicants through e-mails, letters and phone calls about transferring to Andrews University
- Communicates with prospective students who have chosen not to come to Andrews University with information about how to transfer in the future
- Communicates with students who are accepted to Andrews University but want to come in the future
- Assist with developing and implementing the communication plan for transfer students
- Provide prospective students and families with financial information including scholarships, grant, loans and payment options and further direct them to the appropriate financial advisor
- Manages prospective transfer student requests and develops ongoing relationships providing information on academic, scholarship, extracurricular opportunities, etc.
- Meets with prospective transfer students who visit campus
- Coordinates with the Academic Records office to provide appropriate information regarding transfer credits with general articulation information
- Coordinates and works with the Enrollment Coordinators and departmental representatives to best serve the needs of the transfer students
Enrollment
- Assist with managing and planning the First Stop experience for Spring Semester that is done in Enrollment
- Manages the Transfer portion of the Orientation Week of Fall & Spring Semesters
- Assist as assigned with the Preview Weekends and other Enrollment Events
- Actively participates in assigned meetings with recruiters, departments and combined meetings with Student Financial Services
- Supports Enrollment initiatives as a team
- Participates in Enrollment Management office planning and development meetings
Supervisory responsibilities
Management
- Manages a student worker who will assist with day-to-day assignments
- Assists with managing the 3-5 tele-counseling student staff that make the calls to prospective students
- Assists with managing the 12-15 admissions student workers that do the actual processing of the interests/applicants into the database
- Assists with the development and updating of the admissions training manual
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree and/or previous experience in enrollment office settings and with admissions and international student admissions processes preferred, or in positions that provide significant experience in organizational skills, analysis and customer service and interaction.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess valid driver's license
(for a minimum of three years in order to use university vehicles to transport other individuals) and insurance.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
