Position summary
The book production assistant will evaluate copyedited manuscripts, apply styles to Microsoft Word files, and typeset InDesign documents for a Bible commentary.
Qualifications summary
Applicant must have (1) superior written communication skills; (2) an avid interest in biblical scholarship and book production; and (3) the ability to work in Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Word with attention to detail in text and design. Applicant must be a qualified, full-time student.
Duties and responsibilities
- Typeset text for a Bible commentary in Adobe InDesign
- Apply styles to MS Word documents in preparation for transfer to Adobe InDesign
- Evaluate copyedited manuscripts according to a style guide and with a sense of well-written prose

Qualifications
- Superior written communication skills with advanced knowledge of the rules of grammar
- Extensive experience in typesetting text in InDesign
- Prior knowledge and use of styles in Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign
- High level of attention to detail and quality of work
- Able to spend long periods of time on a single task
- Dependability in meeting a daily schedule
- Currently enrolled full-time student at Andrews University; graduate student preferred

Already proficient in MS Word and Adobe InDesign

Must be able to work collegially in an office setting with other immediate associates
