Position summary

Teach one session of COMM 525- Christian Communication, Worldview & Ethics

Thursday evening from 5:30pm-8:15pm, from January 6, 2020 to April 30, 2020. 



This course involves a critical examination of a Seventh-day Adventist biblical worldview, the development of a personal worldview, and an exploration of ethical implications and applications on communication decision making and practices.

Qualifications summary

A Master’s degree in communication and PhD preferred.



Teaching experience at university level.



Self-confidence, positive attitude with an outgoing personality.



Team player with earned respect from peers and subordinates. Working with people individually and in groups.



Conflict management skills: to identify a problem and collaborate on solutions.



Demonstrates strong networking ability.



Exhibits expertise in writing and publishing.



Evidences ability to engage with students as teacher, advisor and mentor.

Duties and responsibilities

Demonstrates a genuine commitment for Andrews University, its mission, and holistic education.  



Evidences ability to engage with students as a teacher, advisor and mentor to train communication leaders. 



Displays time management and organizational qualities. 



Will be available for departmental orientation to become aware of departmental policies and procedures. 



Prepares course materials in a timely manner and delivers lectures to students. 



Compiles, administers, and grades examinations, or assigns this work to others. 



Is committed to student research and conducts research in particular field of knowledge and publishes findings in professional journals. 



Networks and provides professional support to organizations so that students can gain real world experience.

Qualifications

Earned masters and doctorate degrees preferred. 



A doctorate in communication is highly valued.  Professional experience is significant as communication praxis is vital for development of student skills and knowledge. Masters-level candidates must be willing to pursue a doctorate degree. 



Has experience in: consulting, coordination of projects, production of various media types and fund raising. 



Some teaching experience at the university level (Communication discipline preferred)

Physical demands

Stand, talk and demonstrate at a level to be understood for two or more hours at one time as required for lecture sessions. 



Ambulate approximately 500 yards and negotiate 2 flights of stairs to get around campus as needed. 



Be able to perform physical tasks relevant to the teaching load.

Work environment

Work environment conditions are similar to those found in any regular office and classroom environment. 

Classes will be taught mostly between Nethery Hall and Buller Hall, Andrews University. 



May be required to teach evening courses as well as online courses using Zoom (Video Conferencing)  or Course Learning Management System (Moodle/LearninghHub).
