Position summary
Lamson Hall is seeking an Andrews University female student to be the Head Student Dean for the 2020 spring semester. This position supports the management and direction of daily operations of the Residence Hall.
Qualifications summary
- Must be female and a registered fulltime student of Andrews University without any citizenship issues.
- Related residence hall experience is required
- Experience in program development and implementation
- Strong spiritual commitment to Christ with a deep commitment to ministry and student development
- Must be 21 or over with a license for a minimum of 3 years
Duties and responsibilities
Primary Duties
- Supports the management and direction of the daily operation of the residence hall
- Assists in responding to the spiritual, social, physical, and academic needs of the residents through programming and personal attention
- Helps in the facilitation of an environment which promotes community within the residence hall
- Aids in residence hall communications including newsletters, Facebook, posters, etc.
- Provides supervision of lobby and residential areas and give detailed reports of related issues
- Other job duties as assigned through the job description and the Dean’s staff.
Responsibilities Include:
- Basic knowledge of Residence Hall handbooks, Desk Receptionist and Resident Advisor job description in addition to the Student Dean job description
- Co-Curricular Programming
- Daily Evening Accountability follow-through
- International and Non-SDA student Liaison
- General Programming
- Attendance at Meetings
- Supervision and Support of RAs and desk receptionists
- Counseling
- Weekly Reports
- Night and Weekend on duty rotation
- Residence Hall Tours
- Miscellaneous assistance to the Dean on Duty

Qualifications
- Affective skills in administration, organization, customer service, communication, conflict management, counseling, teamwork, etc.
- Competent experience in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and in database administration.
- Must have applied knowledge of the Andrews University Student Handbook.
- Must be comfortable interacting with students, guests, faculty and administration
- Ability to sit for long periods of time as well as climb multiple flights of stairs without assistance
- Lives in Berrien Springs or willing to live in the Residence Hall in a private suite
- Must have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years
