Position summary
To seek an individual who can teach Spanish and Yearbook as core competencies with complimentary skills in one of the following areas: Art/Industrial Ed/Practical Art.
Qualifications summary
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) in education and/or Spanish
- The teacher collaborates with other staff to co-plan, co-deliver, and individualize instruction for all students in a class;
- Work together creatively to accommodate student needs, diversity and educational backgrounds of the students in the class; and overcome instructional challenges constructively.
- The teacher is a hardworking, goal-oriented and enthusiastic professional with excellent subject knowledge.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
The Spanish eacher will have the primary responsibility for planning, programming, and teaching Spanish in alignment with the high school curricular objectives. Additionally, the teacher will be responsible for evaluating the reporting for all students in his or her classes. He or shie will be responsible for establishing a positive, encouraging, appropriate relationship with students in which they are both held to high standards and supported in their attempts to meet them. A love of students and complete dedication to their success, combined with a passion for the Spanish language and culture, effective professional skills, a postive, team-centered personality, and a dedication to lifelong learning are all necessary. The teacher collaborates with other staff to co-plan, co-deliver, and individualize instruction for all students in a class; work together creatively to accommodate student needs, diversity and educational backgrounds of the students in the class; and overcome instructional challenges constructively. The teacher is a hardworking, goal-oriented and enthusiastic professional with excellent subject knowledge and a sound understanding of the NAD teaching standards.
Candidate must also have complimentary skills to teach Yearbook as well as in one of the following areas: Art/Industrial Ed/Practical Art.
Supervisory responsibilities
Supervise students, possibly a student worker
Qualifications
Masters degree preferred in Spanish; evidence of high quality teaching and excellent colleagiality; demonstrate extra-curricular involvement.
Candidate must also possess a skillset in which they can teach yearbook as well as in one of the following areas: : Art/Industrial Ed/Practical Art
Prior experience preferred.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
Must be computer literate and able to enter grades, use Microsoft Suite, be moderately technologically savvy to use phones and apps and projectors.
Interpersonal interactions
Excellent colleagiality and student rapport.Must be comfortable interacting with students in an advisory role, in a disciplinary role. Must have good classroom management.
Physical demands
Must be able to sit, stand and actively work with students 8+ hours per day.

Classroom and school setting.
