Position summary

The Graduate Assistant will assist supervisor in all responsibilities of the UCRLA, for example: teaching students the orton-gillingham based approach to learning reading, seat as memory intervention coach, data entry and several other office responsibilities where help is needed.

Qualifications summary

English is your first language. Pass the hearing and Listening Screening of English Language and spelling sounds.

Train in the Orton-Gillingham-based Multi-sensory approach

Be willing to teach individuals with various attention and other learning challenges

Know how to follow directions, Be compassionate, kind, gentle but firm.

Duties and responsibilities

Supervise your students at all times. Be prepared for lessons.

Be well trained on the Orton Gillingham-based Multi-Sensory Intervention

Know word processing, and data entry, typing, filing, etc.

Supervisory responsibilities

Help out with training new graduate assistants or workers

 

Qualifications

Be a graduate student

Willing to stay for four or more semesters

Technical competencies

Computer, word processing, data base literate

Interpersonal interactions

Interact well with parents and other graduate assistants or other personnel who come to our center.

Physical demands

Be able to carry 20 pounds in case mailing things to the post office

Work environment

Be flexible with duties and assignments.
