Position summary
Directs the Seminary’s business transactions and assists the Dean and the Vice President for Financial Administration regarding finances for the SDA Theological Seminary. Superintends the Seminary building and all other Seminary physical assets. Manages SemTech and SemSound, effectively managing the finances, physical assets and technology of the Seminary
Qualifications summary
To perform this job successfully, an individual needs a high level of business-related knowledge and skill including the ability to analyze accurately financial reports, prepare reports and proposals, and skill in organizational communication. Ability to read, analyze and interpret business reports and policies; ability to clearly write business and personnel policies, business correspondence and communication; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from committees.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Supervises the annual budgeting cycle for the Seminary.
- Reviews the monthly financial reports for the Seminary.
- Supervises the day-to-day finances of the Seminary including evaluation of all expense reports and bills.
- Advises on financial matters related to key players (NAD, GC, etc).
- Serves on various committees.
- Oversees all matters of building management.
- Oversees the technology needs of the Seminary.
- Is the Seminary “go to” person for Seminary students in financial crisis, offering advice, help and encouragement.
Supervisory responsibilities
Coordinates any necessary matters concerning employees with the Human Resources Department. In the event of an opening, works with the immediate supervisor and HR.
Hire, train and supervise several students and student teams like: SemSound, SemTech, SemBuilding and graduate assistants
Qualifications
Ability to solve practical, financial, and abstract problems and deal with a variety of variables. Must have a high level of computer skills, well beyond usual levels of simple computer literacy. Must feel and act comfortably with all the people who interact with this office: students, faculty, and staff. Must have a warm and friendly personality. Must be willing to help “clients” according to their needs. At times, conversations or inquiries can be tense and/or escalate due to the sensitive nature of the conversation. Must be willing to train and supervise students, and also interact on a professional level with faculty and staff. Must be a team player and fit comfortably with the office atmosphere and philosophy of advocacy.

Technical competencies
The position requires the regular use of computer, printer, telephone, facsimile machine, and copier. Also required are use of the various components of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and a high level of skill in working with Banner and data analyzing software

Physical demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Move tables, chairs, boxes, etc. and to set up and take down a protable booth.
Work environment
Typical office environment, and includes walking to other buidlings on campus multiple times during the day.
