Position summary
The Assistant/Associate professor, 100% appointment with 70% teaching both graduate and undergraduate nutrition course, and 30% of the time will serve as the Director of MS in Nutrition and Wellness. The faculty will work closely with MPH Director and Dietetic Internship Director. Additionally, the faculty will be teaching in the areas of nutrition related to the following courses: Nutrition and Metabolism; Nutrition and Wellness; Food Science, Vegetarian and General Nutrition; Current Issues in Nutrition and Wellness; Integrative and Complementary Natural Therapies.
Qualifications summary
- DrPH or PhD or related degree with MPH
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credentialed in the United States
- 3-5 years of teaching experience at the university level is preferred. Minimum one year teaching experience at the university level is required. Online teaching experience preferred.
- Required experience with research and publications
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
In addition to the responsibilities in the position summary, work duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Communicates regularly with PHNW School Chair (Supervisor) regarding programmatic updates and initiatives.
- Monitors national initiatives in the field of nutrition and public health as well as programmatic innovations and best practices.
- Supports PHNW School initiatives.
- Involved in student club organizations
- Monitors the university’s academic calendar.
Supervisory responsibilities
- Director of MS Nutrition and Wellness
- Supervise student workers
Qualifications
- An active member of the faculty of Andrews University School of Population Health, Nutrition and Welness (PHNW) and College of Health and Human Services (CHHS).
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organization and writing skills required. Willing to develop relationships throughout the nutrition and public health field and across other sectors. Strong public speaking and presentation skills. Discretion and sound judgement. Team oriented and collaborative. Communicates regularly with PHNW School and faculty.
- Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development conferences and training courses as required.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
Microsoft Office, ability to use nutrition assessment software for nutrition research, online teaching platforms.
Interpersonal interactions
Must be comfortable working with diverse faculty, staff and students.
